From IoT Sensing to Supply Chain Transformation
Founded in 2018 as an innovative start-up and now recognized as an Innovative SME, Koyré was born from the meeting of five partners with different skills and entrepreneurial backgrounds, united by extensive experience in successful projects and a shared vision: to develop innovative technological components capable of transforming complex data into tangible value.
From the outset, Koyré chose to operate in the field of IoT sensing, with an initial focus on the industrial and nautical sectors—highly complex environments in which reliability, precision, and robustness are not optional requirements, but essential conditions.
The payoff accompanying the company’s identity—the well-known quote by Lord Kelvin, “If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it”—effectively summarizes Koyré’s approach: every process, every system, and every value chain can only be optimized through accurate measurement and intelligent data analysis. It is no coincidence that over the years the company has secured numerous grants through national and international calls dedicated to digital innovation, consolidating a positioning that combines applied research, industrial development, and market vision.
SensorSail: the first patent and experience gained in the field
Koyré’s first emblematic project is SensorSail, an IoT sensor system designed to detect and analyze the operating parameters of a boat’s sails. In a sector traditionally based on empirical experience, SensorSail introduces a scientific, data-driven approach to sailing and sail design.
The system measures loads, deformations, and usage conditions of the sails in real time, transmitting data wirelessly to onboard instrumentation. This information enables optimization of sail design, verification of correct use, support for sailors in selecting ideal operating conditions, and overall performance improvement of the vessel.
SensorSail is now patented in Italy, Europe, and other international countries, and represents not only a product, but also an important technological testbed that has allowed Koyré to refine key competencies in sensing technologies, data transmission, and reliability in extreme environments.
TrackExtreme: the flagship project for logistics and supply chains
Today, the core of Koyré’s activities is TrackExtreme, an advanced system for position tracking and monitoring of critical parameters, designed to address real and still largely unmet needs in the logistics and complex supply chain markets.
Despite the abundance of tracking solutions available, many companies face daily structural limitations: energy-intensive devices, high costs, limited robustness, or poor integration with existing information systems. TrackExtreme was created precisely to overcome these constraints, offering a rare combination of features: multi-year operating autonomy without external power supply, compact size, very low costs, high robustness and reliability, continuous remote monitoring of assets, and seamless integration into production and logistics chains.

From a technological standpoint, TrackExtreme integrates the most recent enabling solutions: IoT sensors, geolocation and data transmission systems, software platforms, and artificial intelligence–based analytical models.
The project was developed in collaboration with leading industrial and technological partners, including STMicroelectronics, and has resulted in fully functional prototypes subjected to rigorous laboratory testing and field trials.
ARTES 4.0 Partnership: Strategic Validation and Collaborative Development
A significant role was played by the ARTES Competence Center, one of the eight national Competence Centers established by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy as part of the Industry 4.0 Plan, supporting companies in innovation and technology transfer processes. Koyré’s project was selected as a winner of the ARTES 4.0 Call. Within this framework, the ARTES 4.0 Call represented for Koyré a strategic opportunity not only for funding, but above all for the technical and industrial validation of the TrackExtreme project, fostering collaboration with partner companies. Development involved collaboration with consortium companies such as NGS and with the University of Florence, with a specific focus on robustness and reliability aspects. These requirements were addressed through an integrated approach combining theoretical reliability assessments and experimental laboratory testing, with the aim of ensuring a truly long-term operational system requiring no maintenance.
An enabling platform for advanced applications
TrackExtreme is not conceived as a simple tracking device, but as an enabling platform for advanced applications in logistics and supply chains. Potential applications include tracking of critical assets, containers, and industrial equipment, support for fleet load optimization, and monitoring of distributed production processes.

The benefits for companies are concrete and measurable: reduction of costs related to lost or hard-to-locate products, optimization of production times, improved warehouse management, increased sustainability through reduced waste and energy consumption, and enhanced safety in critical environments requiring constant asset control.
From this perspective, TrackExtreme positions itself as a key building block for the digitalization of industrial processes and for the evolution toward smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable supply chains.
Research, innovation, and industrial vision
At the foundation of TrackExtreme lies a strong investment in research, innovation, and intellectual property protection, with patents currently in preparation. This commitment reflects Koyré’s determination to build distinctive, hard-to-replicate solutions capable of generating long-term value for customers, partners, and investors.
Addressing institutional stakeholders, industrial players, potential investors, and technological partners, Koyré puts forward a balanced vision: solid technological innovation, experimentally validated, yet always oriented toward concrete market impact. This balance between research and industrial application represents the company’s strength and the potential of TrackExtreme as a flagship project to address the challenges of contemporary logistics.
